FULPER POTTERY, WISTARIA GLAZE, SQUAT FORM CABINET VASE, VERY NICE~~~

Description

For auction is a wonderful squat vase made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. This vase is a very nice example of Fulper's "Wistaria" Glaze. The vase is 3 1/8" tall and 4 5/8" in diameter. The top opening is 2 5/8" in diameter inside measurements.
This vase displays a squat form similar to that of a volcano shape with a wide opening. The vase has a beautiful purple to mauve semi matte glaze. The top lip has thinness in this glaze as seen. The interior of the vase has a chocolate brown water proofing glaze with a few blue flambe drips that flow over the top edge into the vase.
This vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no chips, cracks, nicks or dings. It is signed with Fulper's vertical racetrack ink-stamp signature and stylized Oriental letters. This is obscured by the glaze but you can make out the oval racetrack lines. This piece is known as shape number 047 in the Fulper catalog pages. This racetrack signature mark dates this lovely vase to have been made circa 1922-1928.
This is a very nice example of this form and glaze from Fulper Pottery and I'm sure the buyer will not be disappointed. This piece would work well in any Mission or Arts and Crafts decor. This would look Great on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts style bookcase.
